Every body deserves confidence, and Devin was designed with that truth as its foundation. This is not a pattern cut for one silhouette and forced onto the rest of us — it's built to move with the body you actually have, from a size 8 to a size 30. Curves, height, proportion, none of it disqualifies you from feeling powerful in a well-made dress. Sexy isn't a size. It's a fit, a finish, and the confidence of knowing every seam was placed with intention.

This is fitted-silhouette design at its most disciplined: a body-conscious midi that depends entirely on tension, and placement — not embellishment — to do the work, and not on a single body type to make it work.

Pattern features:

• Sweetheart bodice with a gathered cutout — a hand-gathered center-front knot that creates a structural keyhole opening, engineered to sit flat and hold its shape without gaping, at any size
• Crisscross strap system — thin, adjustable straps that cross high at the back for a sculpted, corseted line across the shoulder blades
• Architectural open-back panel — a fitted upper bodice panel separated from the lower back by a deliberate, airy gap, closed with a delicate tie — the detail that turns a simple dress into a statement
• Centered back zipper for a clean, second-skin fit
• Fitted midi-length skirt with a back slit for ease of movement and a lengthening line
• Side seaming, graded across the full size range for the ability to obtain a true hourglass fit through the waist and hip on every body

Who This Pattern Is For

Devin is written for the sewer who can move past following instructions and into understanding them — someone ready to work with knot construction and negative-space design, regardless of the size they're cutting. It is equally suited to the beginner/intermediate sewer looking to grow their technical vocabulary and the advanced maker who wants a refined, wear-anywhere silhouette added to their pattern library. Sizes 8–30 — because confidence shouldn't have a size limit.

Devin is designed for fabrics with body and a touch of drape — mid-weight stretch satin, silk charmeuse, stretch crepe, or printed jersey with structure. Avoid fabrics with no recovery, as the fit relies on controlled negative ease through the bodice and hip.  If you do go for a super drape, make sure you size down.
