DIY Mini

A few weeks ago I picked up an Iphone case that wasn't necessarily that cute but I was completely drawn to the purple and green color.  Since the purchase, every time I see these colors together I always manage to do a double take.  So when walking past NY Fashion Center I spotted out of the corner of my eye this fabric in a beautiful Italian silk print, I had to snatch it up.  A couple ours later Voila!

My Latest Love

A few weeks ago I was convinced by my manicurist to try a gel manicure.  I have never been a fan of any nail altering because of the damage it does to the nail but once It was explained to me the gel can be soaked off in 15 minutes and wasn't damaging, I wanted to hear more.  I was told the polish last an average of 2 weeks and helps make the nails nice and strong.  Well.......the result was interesting, my nails did seem to appear a bit stronger but the polish did not last two weeks as promised.  The polish lasted longer than my normal manicure polish, so with that I was very satisfied.  My next question was how do I accomplish this gel thing at home? so the research began.  I purchased a UV lamp online here, picked up  the necessary gel products here and did my own at home gel polish.  I loved the way it turned out, nice and shiny and dried rock hard in 3 minutes.  The one downside is the ongoing price when I want to change the colors up considering the mini .30 fl oz gel colors are a whopping $15.00 a bottle. The next challenge is to find out how I can make my own polish :).

Gluten Free Italian pizza

I'm completely obsessed with Dominos pacific veggie pizza and thought I would make an attempt to stop giving them my money.  Instead of the normal thin crust, I tried a gluten-free dough recipe found here and added toppings I love.  This was really yummy but the dough made me fill very stuffed which I don't particularly care for, so until further notice Dominos will continue to get my money.

Weekend Wrap-up

The other day I was going through a bag of clothes I need to drop off at Goodwill that's been sitting in my garage for months.  The only reason I decided to give it a last browse was because I spilled paint on the bag and wanted to make sure nothing was damaged.  Why did I do that! In that bag amongst many many clothes even ones with tags still on them (which I should just simply be embarrassed) were these jeans I could no longer fit six months ago and this shirt that still had the tags on it (not sure why I tossed it to begin with).  I decided I will give them another shot, at least until I add 5lbs. for the winter.

While watching the Today's show, a cooking segment with Bobby Flay had me wanting to skip breakfast and go straight to dinner.  He prepared a white fish with caper-herb vinaigrette here that I had to re-create.
My weekend would not have been complete without something chocolate.  Several  months ago I had the most amazing chocolate infused cocktail at Coco Sala that I re-created here.  The drink was awesome but because I'm insanely visual, in my head it didn't taste the same..... I wanted the glass it was served in.  Well fast forward a few months and I added similar glasses to our wedding registry and thanks to my mother in law I have a do-over.  I decided to try a new concoction due to lack of ingredients but crazy enough, this round was even better.

Shades Of Green

I never pass up the opportunity to wear slacks so when I saw this color and this length (38 inches)  several things went through my mind, one being the fact this shade is awesome but will pretty much be obsolete next year and secondly I could wear the tallest heels imaginable without turning them into high-waters. So I justified the purchase by telling myself I can always dye them next year.  So needless to say, here they are.

Crab & Spinach Ravioli

A few days ago I picked up a Raviolera which is a ravioli mold.  Didn't even know they existed, I suppose I thought the filling miraculously appeared inside.  Being the true gadget junkie that I am, I couldn't resist the purchase.

Ravioli mold
Pillsbury pie crust

{Since I was experimenting with this recipe and the ravioli maker, I used imitation crab meat}
1 cup crab meat
1 egg
1/2 cup of spinach from here
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup Italian bread crumbs
1/2 cup shredded fresh parmesan
1/4 cup mozzarella
Combine all ingredients except butter and egg and toss
Wisk egg and add to the mixture
Toss well

Spoon the mixture into dough filled molds, when filled place another layer of dough on top and roll the dough to flatten and form shape.  Once formed, cut ravioli out of mold.
Butter each ravioli and bake at 390 until light brown and the dough begins to open and the cheese bubbles
Baked Ravioli
Ravioli cream sauce
2 Cups of cream
3 tbls butter
2 tbls olive oil
3 garlic cloves minced
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
1/4 cup mozzarella cheese
Melt butter and olive oil
Add garlic and cream stirring constantly
Add cheese and cook until mix is thick
Serve over ravioli and serve immediately

Vintage Alteration

During my trip to LA a few weeks ago, I popped into the vintage shop Buffalo Exchange and picked up this awesome dress that appears is from the 70's.  I loved the print and the color but found the length a bit strange.  It was too short and desperately needed pleats at the waist, so I broke out my handy sewing machine and got busy.  For good measure, I added one of my top loves....pockets and I now think this is one of my favorites.

Back to normal!

After being away for what seems like weeks, I'm trying to get back in the swing of things so I spent the last couple days doing what I do best, eating pretty much everything in site, I'm am the biggest foodie I know.  I thought the cropped top would deter me simply because who wants to over eat with a touch of stomach revealed? That would be me :)
My next post should really touch on how to stop eating like your still on vacation.

Beauty of Soufriere

My time spent in St. Lucia has been one of my greatest Caribbean vacations yet.  There were many highlights and perfect moments sprinkled throughout my time spent soaking up that beautiful island of only 238 square miles and 174,000 people.  Our stay at Jade Mountain was incredibly relaxing, indulgent and forced me to recharge.  Here is a final peak at how we spent our time.

{Midnight stroll around the resort}

{Beautiful walk through the botanical garden enjoying amazing flowers}
{Mineral Bath that's supposed to take off 10 years.....I will let you know how that turns out}

{Sulphur Springs Waterfall}

{Afternoon Snack}
{Lots of beach lounging}
{Freshest fruit ever}
{Marrying my best friend}
