DIY Maxi Dress

I'm in the process of decorating my basement and in my constant quest to keep my creative juices flowing, lately I find that I enjoy frequenting fabric stores looking for furniture fabric ideas.  When this jersey fabric caught my eye (completely on the other side of the store and clearly no where near household fabric)  I had to make a detour.  Again I am by no means a seamstress or a designer, I simply enjoy interesting fabric.  I had no idea what I intended on making, but figured a draped tube dress would probably be appropriate and easy.  Well the draped tube dress turned into a little something more with the waist gathering and strap.  I'm proud to say this dress cost only $10.00 to make,  took only three hours out of my day and was perfect timing to wear to a birthday party.  The jersey fabric makes the dress not too dressy and the detail makes it not too casual.

  6. This is a fabulous looking DIY. I love the back strap detail.
I could get lost for hours in the fabric store just eyeing and fondling all the fabric textures and patterns. Sigh, this makes me wish I could sew and had my own machine.
